The Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno (USA), a center that is part of the Ituna Center network, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Basque Studies, open rank (Assistant (II), Associate (III), or Full (IV) Professor), to begin July 1, 2027. The field of specialization is open. We welcome applications from scholars in any humanities, arts, or social science discipline whose research and teaching engage the Basque Country, its languages and cultures, or the global Basque diaspora.

Basque Studies at Nevada is broadly interdisciplinary, spanning history, anthropology, economy, literature, linguistics, political science, geography, art, sociology, and cultural analysis. We are especially interested in candidates whose scholarship builds bridges across fields and speaks to national and international audiences. The faculty member who joins the Center can expect to teach and mentor students in the Ph.D. in Basque Studies and in their home department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The standard teaching load is 2-2, with substantial involvement in graduate education, including graduate-level teaching, student mentoring and advising, and service as chair or member of graduate committees. Faculty affiliated with Basque Studies contribute to Center for Basque Studies conferences and publications, participate in its full range of public outreach and programming, and should expect to perform service and administrative roles appropriate to the stage of their career development.
