Myth or reality in the European framework
Juan José Álvarez Rubio
The future of Euskadi as a territorial entity in the context of a globalized world poses an interdisciplinary intellectual challenge, to which a relevant legal dimension is assigned but which cannot be unique and exclusive, because Law must be a way to solve problems, a channel and a bridge for coexistence and not a problem derived from its rigidity and imperativeness. A look at Europe is obligatory, and the analysis of comparative international practice as well, to try to extract arguments that demonstrate how the solution does not involve the always harmful simplifications. We must flee from Manichaeism, and analyze both from an internal and ad extra perspective all the possible alternatives for fitting our self-government into the framework of international "real politik."
