In 2015, Switzerland has a population of 8,239,600 inhabitants, where three cultural communities coexist (German, French and Italian) and four official languages coexist (German, French, Italian and Romansh). Since the 16th century there has been a religious division in Switzerland between Catholics and Protestants that still exists today. Regarding the internal administrative organization, we can distinguish three levels of government: The Swiss Confederation, 26 cantons2 and 2,324 municipalities.
