Two top ranked journals, Regional Studies and Publius: The Journal of Federalism, have published during the summer of 2021, special issues on decentralization, multilevel institutions and federalism.
On the one hand, Regional Studies has released “Multilevel dynamics of the UK´s UE exit: identity, territory, policy and power”, edited by professor Daniel Wincott, from Cardiff University.
The abstract of this recent publication can be read in the following paragraph:
“Introducing a multidisciplinary special issue on the multilevel dynamics of the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU), this article considers social science ‘impact’ from Brexit-related research, including the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) UK in a Changing Europe initiative and Governance after Brexit programme. The issue draws on the initiative’s Brexit Priority Grant programme, bringing together economists, political scientists, policy analysts and socio-legal scholars. It analyses the UK’s regional and devolution-related Brexit dynamics. The article considers the potential and challenges of cross-disciplinary work and concludes with a critical analysis of Boris Johnson administration’s ‘levelling up agenda’ in a post-Brexit and Covid/Covid-recovery context.”
On the other hand, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, has released the 2020-2021 edition of its traditional “Annual Review of American Federalism“, edited by professors Paul Nolette (Marquette University) and David M. Konisky (Indiana University). This special issues contain papers about the multilevel management of COVID-19 pandemic, energy policy carried out by former POTUS Trump or the relationship between federalism and democratic values.
